A restorative yoga practice is essential in tying the physical, mental and emotional together.
Asanas (postures) are held upwards of ten minutes being fully supported by props allowing the body to release tension. Most people find it difficult to keep the mind still or void of thoughts especially during stressful times. This is nearly impossible; however, the practice of recognizing what thoughts pop up and flow, letting the body be supported by and release into props and being open to letting emotions and energy flow is key. During a restorative practice, the parasympathetic nervous system is activated which releases blocked energy and emotions from certain areas sometimes resulting in crying or other physical responses. This practice is designed to cleanse and reboot the body by relaxing and refreshing the body and mind.
