Authentic Movement With Staci Labuda

authentic movement with Staci Labuda.jpg

This is something I experienced during my yoga therapy training taught to me by my brilliant teacher Jamie. After experiencing this authentic movement exercise I felt liberated, stronger, more confident, and I felt like I had released something I was holding onto. Before I began this practice I was scared to death. I thought, there is no way I am doing this, this is 100% something I would only do if I had about 5 drinks. However, I sucked it up and did the assignment...life changing. What we will be doing is allowing ourselves to move in whatever way you feel you want and need to. This can be dancing, stretching, jumping, rolling, swinging your arms, you can make whatever sounds are wanting to escape your body at the time, all while keeping your eyes closed and having a witness observe you. After your time is up, it is your turn to be the witness. The magic happens on both sides. The transformation and emotion that you see emanating out of someone when they are moving in their very own authentic way is so powerful. If you are looking for a great way to spend an hour and a half learning something about yourself and others, this workshop is for you.

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I can share this beautiful practice with you.. Workshop = $20.00 per person or $35.00 if you come with a friend.  To register, click HERE and go to our workshops page.

KUNDALINI AND SOUND with Lisa Labella

What Is Kundalini?

Lisa Labella.jpg

A Kundalini class is slightly different that a traditional yoga class because it contains more breath work, the chanting of mantras, and postures that flow in a very specific sequence in order to not just give the body a workout, but also to cleanse the energy bodies as well

LISA’S BIO

My first teacher training was in 2006. I finished my 200 hour course through Yandara Yoga, a facility in Baja, Mexico. It was immersive and brought me so much joy. The community, the land and knowledge nourished me on a deep level and I thought I had an idea of what I wanted out of life. I graduated and began to teach in NY. I enjoyed teaching, but felt like something was missing, so I moved to LA to become a singer and actress, allowing yoga to fall by the wayside. As I pursued my dream of performing I realized that true expression was missing in my life, the expression I experienced from my own yoga and spiritual practice. I decided to go back into training and graduated from the Wanderlust Hollywood Kundalini Yoga teacher training program in 2019 with my own wisdom of what I need to express and teach. I am so excited share what I have learned. Class = $25. To register, click here.

Make your own Mala and Meditation With Tricia Zoldak

mala-beads.jpg

A Mala is a garland of 108 beads plus one bead as the Guru bead. Malas are traditionally used for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra. Wearing a Mala can serve as a daily reminder of what you are trying to manifest in your life at that particular time.

Join Tricia Zoldak for a fun workshop where you’ll learn how to make and use your very own mala to serve as a talisman for prayer and meditation, and to wear as a reminder of an intention you will set during the workshop. You will learn a little bit of the history of Malas, the importance of meditation and mantras, and you will have a chance to find the perfect mantra for yourself. You will leave with a beautiful Mala you have created yourself set with your own personal intention, along with knowledge of how to use it.

Tricia began the regular practice of yoga in 2014 and received her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in May of 2015 from the Body Art Barn in Blooming Grove, NY. She then went on to receive her 500 hour certification in 2016 from the Body Art Barn and is currently enrolled in another 500 hour certification at Happy Buddha in Goshen. Yoga, meditation, and chanting has become an integral part of life for Tricia and has helped in dealing with the common yet difficult stresses and obstacles of life. Her goal is to bring yoga and meditation in an easy and accessible way so that even a complete beginner can utilize these practices in their life.

Thai Yoga Bodywork Workshop with Brian and Charleen

thai body work from Brian.jpg

What Is Thai Yoga Bodywork?

Thai Bodywork gives the benefits of massage, yoga, and energy work in one nurturing dance.  It is an ancient healing art form practiced in Thailand. The name in Thai language is Nuat Boran [noo-ut bo-rahn], but in America it is variously called "Thai Massage," "Thai Yoga Massage," or "Thai Bodywork."  Boran means "ancient" or "classical" and Nuat is often translated as "massage", though it is not really "massage" as Americans think of it but a holistic bodywork. Traditionally given on a floor mat with clients fully clothed, Thai bodywork is a whole-body treatment.  It combines passive stretching and movement of joints with several touch techniques and work along energy meridians (called sen in Thai).

You do not have to already be flexible to get and enjoy Thai Bodywork

 The Benefits of Thai Bodywork

The whole treatment is a graceful, nurturing, interactive dance that is sensitive to the condition of each person.  The effect of Thai Massage is greater flexibility, flow of energy, deep relaxation, and feeling of well being. The art of Thai bodywork achieves a deep therapeutic effect without harsh physical force through efficient use of movement, conscious touch, breathing and rhythm.  Since it is given on a floor mat with the client fully clothed, practitioners can use their whole body in leverage and interactive work as they move and rock the client into various positions, apply rhythmic touch as well as some cross-fiber stroking of muscle and tendons. The treatment can be vigorous or gentle depending on the need or preference of the client. Always respectful and caring, it is adjustable to suit most clients, young or not-so-young, athlete or spectator.

.What Are Energy Lines?

The invisible energy lines are perceived to circulate throughout the body to maintain health and vitality.

There are said to be 72,000 lines. It’s believed 10 main lines treat the whole body and its internal organs.

This is a non-religious or spiritual perspective and practice. When this energy flow is blocked or restricted, it creates sickness or disease. To clear these blockages, Thai massage combines the application of pressure with manipulation, and muscle stretching in a full-body works, which improves overall health and well-being.

 -What You Will Learn-

This is NOT a certification course!

In this introductory workshop, you will learn the basics of Thai Yoga Bodywork. You will learn various postures, different pressure techniques, the areas of Sen lines, and workable pressure points. Workshop = $40. To register, click here.

8 Things Every Yoga Teacher Should Know About Anatomy

Join Susan Swiat, Physical Therapist and Certified Yoga Teacher, for this in-depth review of Anatomy.

8 things every.jpg

**It is not necessary to memorize hundreds of muscles and bones to experience the benefits of applying anatomy to yoga. What is necessary is the functional understanding of key anatomic structures in their settings as they relate to Hatha Yoga. Knowledge of these structures can be applied immediately to optimize your practice, break through blockages and prevent injuries in your own body as well as in your students. The more we know about the body, the more we can work with our body in a healthy way and pass this knowledge on to others. **

This course is appropriate for new and experienced Yoga instructors. We will review all the major systems in the body including the bones and muscles of the skeletal system and spine. Discussion of the types of joints in the body, major planes of movement and muscle actions will be applied to essential yoga poses in order to understand alignment that could put the body at risk. The anatomy and physiology of breath will be reviewed as it applies to a pranayama practice.

Workshop = $75.00. Click here to register and go to our workshops page.

Coursework will be supplemented by hands-on lab work as well as a written manual for every participant. {Happy Buddha instructors and graduates will receive a discounted price for this workshop}

Workshop = $70. To register, click  HERE and go to our workshops page.
